Oils: How To Clean Your Diffuser

Did you know that you need to clean your diffuser often to avoid building up residue that could potentially damage your diffuser? This 3 step process could extend the life of your diffuser and give you a better aromatic experience.

Pro Tip: After using a pre-diluted blend (something like Serenity or Balance), you will want to wipe out the inside of your water basin and sensor at the bottom of the basin to prevent buildup of fractionated coconut oil (FCO). Carrier oils aren’t volatile, therefore they will not evaporate completely like essential oils do.

3 Step Cleaning Basics

Step 1

Fill your reservoir half full with water and add 1/2 teaspoon of distilled white vinegar. Allow to sit, or run the diffuser for five minutes to loosen buildup.

Step 2

Turn off the diffuser, remove the plug from the base and dump out the water. Be mindful not to allow water to fall to the underside or in the monitor as this could damage the diffuser. Using a clean washcloth, small bottle brush or Qtip, wipe the inside of the basen. Depending on the model, you may be able to remove an insert surrounding the sensor.

Step 3

Fill the diffuser with fresh water and your favorite oils and enjoy!

It is that simple!! The hard part is remembering to do it!
